Recurring Bills & Subscriptions
Overview
JoinFunds scans your imported transactions to detect recurring bills and subscriptions — things like rent, Netflix, gym memberships, and utility payments. Detected patterns are organised into four tabs so you can track, pause, or dismiss them.
Detect recurring patterns
Run detection
Go to Recurring in the sidebar. Click the Detect button in the top right corner. JoinFunds analyses your transaction history and identifies payments that repeat on a regular schedule (weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual).

Manage your recurring bills
Understand the four tabs
Detected patterns are sorted into four status tabs:
- Active — Confirmed recurring payments you want to track. These appear in your dashboard summary.
- Tentative — Patterns the algorithm detected but is not fully confident about. Review these and confirm or dismiss them.
- Paused — Bills you have temporarily stopped tracking (for example, a gym membership you have frozen).
- Ignored — Patterns you have dismissed. They will not be suggested again.
Confirm or dismiss tentative patterns
Open the Tentative tab to see patterns awaiting your decision. Each one shows a confidence score based on how many matching transactions were found and how regular the timing is. Click to confirm (moves to Active) or dismiss (moves to Ignored).
Pause or resume bills
If you cancel a subscription temporarily, move it to Paused rather than deleting it. When you resubscribe, move it back to Active. This keeps your history intact.
Run detection again after each CSV import. New transactions may reveal patterns that were not detectable with fewer data points — for example, a quarterly insurance payment that only shows up after three months of data.
